I write short plays and full-length plays. Comedies and dramas. I also write screenplays and non-fiction. I have a husband named Bob, a son named Malcolm and a Pug dog named Pablo. We live in the lovely Lincoln Square neighborhood of Chicago.

Stephanie Alison Walker is an award-winning playwright whose work has been produced across the United States from New York City to Los Angeles and internationally in Australia, Canada, Singapore, The Philippines and Japan. American Home – her play about the foreclosure crisis – won American Blues Theater Company’s Blue Ink Award for Playwriting in 2011. She won the 2008 South Florida Theatre Festival Audience Favorite Grand Prize for The Women’s Theatre Project production of her play Three Fittings, a finalist for the prestigious Princess Grace Playwriting Award 2008 for The Art of Disappearing, and a semi-finalist for the 2009 HotCity Greenhouse Festival of New Plays in St. Louis.
In print, her play The Chocolate Affair is published in both Ten 10-Minute Plays (Black Box Press) and The Best 10-Minute Plays for 2 or More Actors (Smith & Kraus) and Hollywood Hills is published in Best Ten Minute Plays 2008: 2 Actors (Smith & Kraus). On screen her play Back Roads (which conceived for Moving Arts theatre company’s smash hit production of The Car Plays and was also part of the 2007 “10 by 10 in the Triangle”) was turned into a short film that premiered at the 2008 Women’s Int’l Film Festival in Miami.
Stephanie received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder and her master’s from University of Southern California’s Master of Professional Writing Program. She is a proud member of Lizard Claw Playwrights and Courier 12 Collective and is the creator of the blog “Love in the Time of Foreclosure” – featured on NPR’s Planet Money, The Story with Dick Gordon by American Public Media, Business Week Magazine, Chicago Magazine and The Huffington Post.
